“Responding to Hate: Public Talk and Student Workshop.”

Nov. 12  Free Talk (6-7 pm); Free Student Workshop (7:30-9:00 pm)

Workshop requires registration

The event features founders of Serve 2 Unite, Pardeep Singh Kaleka and Arno Michaelis. On August 5th, 2012, Singh Kaleka’s father, Satwant, and five others were murdered by white supremacists when their place of worship was attacked. The shooter was a member of the neo-Nazi skinhead gang that Michaelis had helped found in 1989. Single parenthood, love for his daughter, and the forgiveness shown by people he once hated all helped Michaelis change his life. These brought him love for diversity and gratitude for all life after he left hate groups in 1994. Since his father’s passing, Singh Kaleka has become a licensed trauma therapist and partnered with Michaelis via Serve 2 Unite, an organization whose mission is to bring a peaceful society where all are valued and included.  There will be a brief reception between the public talk and the student workshop.
