Over the past six years The Crossing has sponsored service learning opportunities (Quest trips) to Israel/Palestine (Peace focus), Costa Rica (Spirituality and Sustainability focus), and Northern Ireland (Forgiveness focus). The Quest experience is more than a trip. It is an opportunity to meet twice monthly in advance of the trip to engage the focus topic and to bond as a group.
All students are welcome to apply for these opportunities. We do our best to keep costs low and the group fundraises in advance.
Quest Northern Ireland--January 2008 Would you like to help children affected by violent conflict? * Do you love participating in service projects? * Are you interested in broadening your knowledge of Ireland and making life-long friends at the same time? If you are saying "yes" to any of the previous questions then the Quest Northern Ireland Trip is for YOU!! Join us for a spiritual journey to Belfast, NI during winter break 2008! (Jan. 6-20th) In Belfast, we will be working in two different schools to promote forgiveness and tolerance. In addition, we will be helping out around the school; participating in projects such as painting, cleaning, etc. We will be working through the International Forgiveness Institute based in Madison. Quest to Costa Rica--2004, 2005, 2006, 2009(?)
Questa Rica as we call it focuses on sustainability--the wonders of the tropics, the relationship between what we eat and where it comes from, how trade policies affect what is grown where, the consequences of such policies, and our personal relationship to the earth. Groups have spent time in the rainforest, restoring ecosystems, and viewing natural wonders.
