Free for students ($5.00 for others)
Beginner Swing Lessons 7:30 to 8:00 pm
Social Dance: 9:00 to 12:00 pm
See why
swing dancing is so popular! Swingin’ music, talented teachers, cool

it won't be long before you move out onto the dance floor! The
introductory lessons will give you plenty of skills to get your groove
on. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed. To get to the dance,
enter the front door off University Ave. Take your immediate left and
go downstairs. The Crossing student organization is partnering with
Madison Lindy Connection to make these dances possible. For more

Habitat For Humanity Blitzbuild, January 2009 |
|
Interested in going to Florida in January to have fun AND to make a difference? Each year we take a group of around 20 students to work for Habitat for Humanity in Palatka County, Florida. This is one of the poorest regions of Florida, but their hospitality is amazing. We call it a blitzbuild because we go from nothing to 4 walls, a roof, and siding in 5 days. It's extremely satisfying and lots of fun to provide help to those who need a nice, safe home. If you would like to learn more, contact Phil Kollmeyer (

Over the past six years The Crossing has sponsored service learning opportunities (Quest trips) to Israel/Palestine (Peace focus), Costa Rica (Spirituality and Sustainability focus), and Northern Ireland (Forgiveness focus). The Quest experience is more than a trip. It is an opportunity to meet twice monthly in advance of the trip to engage the focus topic and to bond as a group, plus share the experience with churches, peers, and civic groups upon return.
All students are welcome to apply for these opportunities. We do our best to keep costs low and the group fundraises in advance.

Book Study: A Faith Worth Believing
The words religion and faith can stir up some vivid images; some of them are positive, and others are not. This summer, we'll explore the ideas of faith and religion by reading Tom Stella's "A Faith Worth Believing: Finding New Life Beyond the Rules of Religion". We'll begin with the first chapter on Tuesday, June 24 at 7:30pm at The Crossing. Join us for the company and conversations we'll have each Tuesday! Contact Suzie (

"Becoming Human" by Brian C. Taylor-Book Study Wednesdays 4 PM
Join fellow Christians and Non-Christians seeking to know more about what Jesus has to say about living a vibrant, full life! This summer will be a time to explore more about how to discern traits such as love, commitment, clarity and joy in our own lives through the transformative wisdom Jesus shared with others while living his life. We will be a relaxed and open group welcoming all ideas and reflections of the book, please join us! We will meet five or so times throughout the summer, most likely on a weekly basis. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, June 25th from 4-5 PM at 1127 University Avenue in the upstairs student lounge. We'll discuss the first 50 pages (intro and ch. 1-5) during the first meeting! Any questions, please contact Bri Sundal at

Outdoor Labyrinth Walk Sunday June 22 7:15 pm -- possibly every Sunday?
Join others from The Crossing as together we worship by walking an outdoor labyrinth. This labyrinth is located at a church on the west side of Madison (http://www.madisonchristiancommunity.org/labyrinth.htm). Please register in advance by contacting Mark Eatough (

). If you can drive, please note this. We will be leaving The Crossing at 7:15 pm and arrive at the church 7118 Old Sauk Road around 7:30 pm. We will plan to be back by 9:00 pm (but possibly earlier). It all depends on how much time walkers take walking the labyrinth. This is meant to be a very reflective contemplative experience not to be rushed. Rain date will be on June 29th.
If enough students are interested and we can provide transportation, perhaps we can make this a weekly Sunday evening worship experience and when you are in town, you can join us. Let Mark know if this is something you might be interested in doing weekly when you are in town (whether or not you can make it to the first walk on June 22).
Monday Sustainability Potlucks
